Karen Deese

Karen Deese: Karen graduated with honors from the University of Greensboro with a BFA degree in dance. She has trained with Twyla Tharp, Luigi, Charles Kelley, Martha Graham, and the Alvin Ailey Dance Companies. She has owned and directed The Academy of Dance and Fine Arts for 41 years, where she has trained numerous students who have gone on to become professional dancers and dance educators. Karen was a dancer and/or choreographer for the televised production of Miss Virginia, Miss NC, and Miss Mississippi Pageants for a total of 20 years. She has choreographed and/or directed shows for numerous cruise lines including, Norwegian, Cunard, Crown, etc. In 1998 she began directing and choreographing Paramount Park’s main stage theater shows in US and Canada. Karen has enjoyed judging regional and national dance competitions for over 20 years. She and her husband, Larry, currently reside in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
